National Conference on Differential Diagnosis of Benign and Malignant Soft Tissue Lesions and 2008 Henan Provincial Pathology Annual Meeting Notice

The diagnosis and differential diagnosis of benign and malignant lesions in lymphoid tissue is a challenging area in pathological diagnostic work. To improve the diagnostic level of soft tissue pathology in China and enhance mutual exchange, the Henan Medical Association, Henan Provincial People’s Hospital, and the Chinese Committee of Pathology Workers jointly organize the 2008 (National) Continuing Medical Education Project: National Workshop on Differential Diagnosis of Benign and Malignant Soft Tissue Lesions and Difficult Case Reading Session, along with the 2008 Henan Provincial Pathology Annual Meeting. It is scheduled to be held from October 31 to November 2, 2008, at the Egret Mansion in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. Renowned domestic and international soft tissue pathology experts will be invited to give special lectures. The meeting will primarily be conducted in a format combining exchange and case reading sessions for discussion and communication.

November 1st Lecturer: Flinders Medical Center, University of Adelaide Dr. Philip W. Allen

Content: Difficult issues in soft tissue tumors

November 2nd Lecturer: Department of Pathology, Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital Professor Fan Qinhe

Content: 1. Problems in the diagnosis of soft tissue tumors 2. Difficult case reading session for soft tissue tumors

Fifty difficult cases of soft tissue tumors have been collected, with a focus on selecting 25 of them as key cases for this reading session for joint discussion and analysis. The difficult cases primarily involve the differentiation between benign and malignant soft tissue lesions and the differentiation among different types of soft tissue tumors. The session will also discuss diagnostic approaches, criteria for differential diagnosis, and the application of new technological methods.
