The conference was opened with an opening speech by Wang Shenglan, Deputy Leader of the Beijing Pathology Group. She said: Respected Academician Liu Tonghua, respected Professor Sun Baocun, Leader of the National Pathology Technology Group of the Pathology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, respected Professor Chen Jie, Chairman of the Pathology Branch of the Beijing Medical Association, respected leaders, distinguished guests, friends from all walks of life, ladies and gentlemen: Today, colleagues in the field of pathology gather in Pinggu to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Pathology Technology Group. Here, on behalf of all members of the Beijing Pathology Technology Group, I extend a warm welcome and sincere thanks to all the leaders and guests attending today’s celebration conference!

First, the renowned pathology expert in China, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Liu Tonghua, was invited to deliver a speech: I am very happy to be invited to attend the celebration conference for the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Technology Group today. Under the leadership of the team with Wang Detian at its core, the Beijing Technology Group has achieved tremendous results and set an example for the whole country. We know that pathology technology is the foundation of pathology development; without the progress and development of pathology technology, there would be no pathology as it is today. I wish the conference a complete success!

In the afternoon, Wang Detian, on behalf of the Beijing Pathology Technology Group, delivered a ten-year summary report titled “Ten Years of Hard Work to Create a Better Future.” Wang Detian’s report comprehensively summarized the work of the Beijing Pathology Technology Group from ten aspects. Over the past ten years, under the leadership of the core team, adhering to the principle of “unity, pragmatism, innovation, and harmony,” the Beijing Pathology Technology Group has grown from small to large, from weak to strong, evolving from being manufacturer-led to being group-led, and has carried out a series of technical training, technical exchanges, technical education, quality control, and quality assessment activities. It has mobilized nearly a hundred hospitals and technicians in Beijing to participate, while also adopting diverse and interesting forms of activities. It has successfully held four Beijing Pathology Technology Academic Annual Conferences, with participation growing from nearly a hundred to four or five hundred attendees, and representatives from surrounding provinces and cities to over ten provinces and cities nationwide. Over the past ten years, in addition to its academic work in the city, the Beijing Pathology Technology Group has also assisted pathology journals, the national group, and colleagues from brother provinces and cities in successfully organizing six national pathology technology annual conferences, as well as inter-laboratory quality control competitions for immunohistochemistry, frozen sections, and paraffin sections. Over the past ten years, key members of the pathology group have traveled to more than 20 provinces and cities across the country for academic exchanges and sharing expertise, working together with pathology technology colleagues nationwide to promote the development of pathology technology in China. Over the past ten years, while conducting academic activities, the group has also continuously strengthened its own organizational development, undergoing three rounds of leadership elections, constantly incorporating fresh blood and adding new forces. In June 2014, the group underwent a major adjustment. After the five leaders Wang Detian, Dong Jianqiang, Wang Shenglan, Xie Yongqiang, and Lü Yali no longer took charge of the group’s work.

A new leadership team was formed with Deputy Leaders Wang Wei, Tian Yuwang, Zhang Yong, and core members Li Xingqi, Song Xin, Zhou Lixin, He Zhili, Du Juan, and Yuan Yanling at its core. Deputy Leader and Secretary-General Wang Wei was responsible for convening the group’s daily work. Five working groups were established: Routine Technology Group, Immunohistochemistry Group, Molecular Pathology Group, Special Staining and Cytology Group, and Comprehensive Management Group, led by Li Xingqi, Song Xin, Zhou Lixin, He Zhili, and Du Juan, respectively. Upon the Secretary-General’s proposal, Zhang Yan, Xue Xiaowei, Dong Zhouhuan, and Hou Fang were appointed as group secretaries. This was an innovative adjustment for the group, ensuring a younger and more knowledgeable team, and it was a meaningful attempt in group construction. In his summary report, Wang Detian concluded by saying: To build a technical platform that is advanced in technology, excellent in equipment, reasonable in processes, reliable in quality, consistent in standards, standardized in systems, and balanced in development. We will continuously explore new issues in modern pathology technology development, propose new concepts, establish new theories, and meet new challenges. We will make greater efforts to promote the sound and rapid development of pathology technology in China! After Wang Detian’s summary report, leaders of brother technology groups from various provinces and cities extended their congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Pathology Technology Group.
