Key Focus: China to Strengthen Standardized Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment, Recently Establishes Five Major Cancer Quality Control Centers
Introduction:
Recently, the National Conference on Standardized Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment and the Summit Forum on Multidisciplinary Diagnosis and Treatment and Translational Research of Tumors were successfully held.At the conference, the National Cancer Center and the National Cancer Quality Control Center established five new tumor quality control committees for lung cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, cervical cancer, and ovarian cancer. Thus, including breast cancer and colorectal cancer, the number of national-level tumor quality control committees will reach seven, marking thatChina will comprehensively deepen and strengthen the quality control work for single-disease tumors, standardizingthe diagnosis and treatment activities of medical institutions at all levels, which has positive and constructive significance for improving the level of cancer diagnosis and treatment in China.

Currently, the incidence of cancer in China is continuously rising, and cancer has become the primary cause threatening the life and health of the Chinese people. With the development of the medical field, significant progress has been made in the diagnosis and treatment of tumors in many aspects such as innovative technologies and translational research, especially in the era of precision medicine and personalized treatment, where many cancer patients have greatly benefited from targeted therapy.
“Diagnosis” Comes First
pathological diagnosis is recognized as the “gold standard” for tumor diagnosis, it is the final diagnosis that cannot be replaced by any other means at present, and it is also the most reliable basis for guiding clinical treatment and prognosis assessment. Pathological diagnosis formulates corresponding personalized plans by analyzing different pathological types of tumors, gene mutation status, different stages, and the patient’s physical condition, thereby improving clinical treatment outcomes. This will also become an important development direction for future tumor diagnosis and treatment, determining the success or failure of precise treatment.。
High Requirements for Diagnostic Quality
The establishment of these five national-level tumor quality control centersmeans that the era of personalized medicine places higher demands on the standardization of pathological diagnosis work and the level of diagnostic quality.Pathologists, industry associationsas well as upstream and downstream enterprises involved in all aspects of pathological diagnosis, how to activelyexploreandjointly buildmore scientific, intelligent,Standardsand standardized new diagnostic models to meet the increasingly high-quality and efficient clinical demands is particularly important.
