Breaking News: Registration for the First National Pathology Science Communication Creation Competition is About to Begin
Introduction:
To thoroughly study the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches and to deeply implement the strategy of “placing science popularization on an equally important position as technological innovation,” in order to popularize pathology knowledge, promote the spirit of pathology, and enhance public awareness of the pathology discipline, the Youth Committee of the Pathologists Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the Youth Committee of the Chinese Society of Pathology of the Chinese Medical Association will jointly hold the First National Pathology Science Popularization Creation Competition—“This Is Pathology.”
I. Competition Structure
This competition consists of three stages: preliminary selection, semi-final, and final. The preliminary selection involves online submission and screening of works, while the semi-final and final are on-site competitions (subject to timely adjustments according to the pandemic situation). The Youth Committee of the Pathologists Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the Youth Committee of the Chinese Society of Pathology of the Chinese Medical Association, and specially invited experts will form the competition judging committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Judging Committee”), which will score the submitted works in accordance with the principles of fairness, impartiality, and openness.
II. Participation Process and Timeline
1. Submission of Works:
◆Upload works: From now until August 10, contestants should send their video works along with the “Description of Submitted Work” to the event email: [zjsbl@edoctor.cn](mailto:zjsbl@edoctor.cn);
◆Follow the platform: After July 10, contestants may follow the official WeChat public account of the competition, “This Is Pathology.” In the “Short Video Science Popularization” section, they can obtain video production tips, the submission description form, and other supporting materials online.
2. Evaluation of Works:
◆Each submitted work will be reviewed by at least five judging experts. The Judging Committee will score the works based on content, innovation, language expression, editing and production, and other aspects;
◆Based on the scores, 20 outstanding works will be selected to advance to the semi-final.
3. Semi-final:
◆The organizing committee will hold an offline semi-final in mid-September, where shortlisted contestants will compete on site;
◆According to the on-site competition scores, 12 outstanding works will be selected. Specific competition rules will be announced separately.
4. Final:
◆The organizing committee will hold an offline final in late October, where teams will compete in comprehensive on-site performance;
◆Awards such as the Best Annual Science Popularization Video, Best Organization, and Most Popular Work will be selected. Specific competition rules will be announced separately.
III. Work Requirements
1. Format of Works:
◆Any form of live-action micro-video, including but not limited to talk shows, skits, crosstalk, speeches, recitations, singing, explanatory videos, etc.;
◆At least one participant must be engaged in pathology-related work (including pathology medical students);
◆Duration must not exceed 3 minutes;
2. Technical Specifications:
◆Horizontal 16:9 shooting is recommended, with a resolution of 1280×760 and a bitrate above 1.8 Mb/s;
◆Common video formats such as AVI, MP4, MOV, etc., are acceptable;
3. Content Requirements:
◆Works must be original, free of copyright disputes, and must not violate national laws or regulations or infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of any third party;
◆The video quality must be clear and stable, with a distinct theme. Appropriate post-production effects, dubbing, and background music may be used as long as they do not affect content dissemination;
◆The primary focus should be pathology science popularization, explaining pathological scientific knowledge and the significance of pathological testing;
◆The presentation must be complete and informative. While ensuring scientific accuracy, creators are encouraged to adopt accessible, innovative, and flexible forms of expression.
IV. Disclaimer
1. Submitted works must not infringe upon any third party’s copyright, portrait rights, reputation rights, privacy rights, or any other rights. Any disputes, claims, or litigation arising therefrom shall be borne entirely by the author or presenter, and the organizers and co-organizers of the event shall assume no legal responsibility;
2. No registration fee is required for this event. The organizers reserve the final right of interpretation and may adjust the operational procedures of the event according to specific circumstances;
3. Any submitting organization, presenter, or author shall be deemed to have agreed to and complied with all the above provisions.
