Cloud Tour of Pathology: The 10th Chinese Pathology Annual Conference Concludes Successfully

Introduction:

The pandemic cannot hinder the learning pace of pathologists, and the virus cannot isolate the strong academic atmosphere. From October 29 to November 1, 2020, the 26th Academic Conference of the Chinese Society of Pathology and the 10th Chinese Pathology Annual Meeting were held in a hybrid online and offline format. Through small screens, the vast world of pathology was encapsulated. This new conference model provided a more free and extensive platform for academic exchange. Pathology experts and colleagues gathered in the cloud, experiencing a unique ‘grand review’ of China’s pathology field.

In addition to the usual features of previous annual meetings, such as keynote reports, sub-specialty sessions, slide reading sessions, and poster exhibitions, this year’s conference also included, based on the needs of disciplinary development, the finals of the first National Pathology Science Popularization Creation Competition, the Young and Middle-aged Pathology Department Directors Forum, and pathology teaching competitions. These events allowed us to focus on the talents of young pathologists, provided opportunities for interaction and sharing among young and middle-aged experts, promoted disciplinary development, and made one marvel at the continuous emergence of outstanding pathology talents.

It is worth mentioning that the finals of the first National Pathology Science Popularization Creation Competition,16 teams belonging towhere teams from four different mentor groups gathered inCapitalBeijing, used innovative new media forms to interpret and promote pathology, presenting a spectacular and novel visual feast for pathology colleagues nationwide. It fully showcased the elegance of pathologists and allowed the audience to comprehensively experience ‘what pathology truly is.’

The successful hosting of this competition played a significant role in promoting and advancing the popularization of pathology science knowledge, advocating the spirit of pathology science, and enhancing public understanding and awareness of the pathology discipline.

After completing various academic tasks and agendas, the three-day pathology conference concluded successfully on November 1. Experts from across the country meticulously prepared wonderful lectures and case sharing for this online conference. Audiences from over 30 provinces participated via live streaming and real-time interaction, with over 190,000 views breaking the quiet of this winter. They once again agreed to meet in Beijing next year.
